It seems I can't play the DOS version of the game with any sound at all. I've run the setsound file and configured it but whenever I have sound it in the game it says "Heap Allocation Error. Reason Code :2" in DOSBox. With MIDI music it is extremely slow! It works perfectly without sound though.

I've also tried the Windows version in the folder "THWIN" but it says "Language Setup Failed". =(

Never had any problem with DOSBox or D-Fend before.

Help?

You must switch on MIDI sound and in dosbox set different number of cycles on this game. Try it

I've put on "Creative Labs Sound Blaster or 100% compatible" and changed the cycles from 10000-20000 on a 1.6Ghz computer. It had no difference. I ran it on Windows XP and still the same...

I put the cycles down from 3000-7000 and still no difference... the newspaper is spinning slowly...

Oh and I don't hear any music either.

I've downloaded the game twice already with the same result. What do you mean by a different page? All I get is that you have problems with your hosting and to get it from eDisk....

I'm having the same problem as Bogger. Also tried the Windows version and got the same error. I would really like to enjoy this game with sound so were you able to get clever Slim?

Hmmm, I just searched around two popular abandonware sites and it seems to me that this game is being sold and protected by the ESA. More searching I've found that the game was abandonware at one point then taken away.

Also Police Quest 1 & 2 are being up for download here and they are being sold at CD Access along with all the other Police Quests... I also notice The Incredible Machine is on here when they are ESA protected as well just to let you know...

i just downloaded theme hospital from here. no sound.. i know the reason btw. this is the RIP version meaning they rip away the sound n movies.(check the file MINHEAP.DAT, filesize should be large but small instead) the onli sound they got is the midi sound. disable the sound effect but u can enable the midi.

i realli hope any1 could upload the theme hospital with sound version. movies not realli important but i miss the sound. used to own the game but dunno where my cd gone to.

edited - hope this help. right now im trying downloading the demo version n want try replace the minheap.dat file with the demo version.... later i post the result.

edited 2nd time - finished download demo. yes. it work. got sound now. all u got 2 do is download the demo version here then place the SOUND-0.DAT file into the sound/data...

You say they got the midi music? Well, as said in my original post it is extremely slow with it on... Can't download the "full" content because I have dial-up and it is still sold (look at my last post). Anyway if I download the demo it won't be slow would it?

Not working good ... I remember my friend had this game on CD,I will see him tonight and will ask him about it,if he has it I will try to upload it or will contact some admins to do it.
